Vishni Gopwani

An extraordinary artist whose work reflects a beautiful harmony of Indian heritage and Bajan culture.

A student of the esteemed Indrani Whittingham, Vishni’s artistic journey encompasses documentary-style photography, sensitive hand-drawn portraits, and stunning pastel and acrylic paintings. While her roots in the vivid traditions of India are evident, Vishni’s love for Barbados shines through her breathtaking Bajan landscapes, capturing the island’s beauty with both skill and passion.

Born in 1958 in the Kutch region of India, Vishni grew up surrounded by muted hills and the brilliant colors of Kutchie culture. This chromatic diversity remains central to her work, seamlessly blending with the lush tones and tranquil scenes of Barbados.

Vishni’s photography is equally remarkable, exploring life in both her homelands. She regularly documents the nomadic tribes of India, portraying their vitality and tradition with honesty and admiration. Her talent behind the lens and brush makes her a truly versatile artist.
