Tark Bey – Illuminating Trinidadian & Tobagonian Landscapes
Tark Bey is a self-taught Trinidadian artist whose journey into painting began in childhood, inspired by his father's calming influence through art. He describes his style as a blend of impressionism and realism, with acrylics as his preferred medium. His vibrant and distinct colour palette sets him apart, drawing inspiration from nature and everyday life to create compositions that include landscapes, seascapes, and cultural and historical sites.
His debut at Horizons Art Gallery's "New Faces" exhibition in 2023 was met with acclaim, leading to his first solo exhibition, "Lux"—Latin for light—in May 2024. Reflecting on this milestone, Bey stated, "Lux highlights the wisdom and knowledge that light represents, not only the physical light itself, but the light that is not seen."
Bey's independent travels throughout Europe have also influenced his present style, enriching his artistic perspective. His works have been showcased during these travels, contributing to his development as an artist.
Through his art, Tark Bey continues to illuminate the beauty of Trinidad and Tobago, inviting viewers to see the world through his unique lens.
